SPECIAL - Scalable Policy-awarE linked data arChitecture for prIvacy, trAnsparency, and compLiance.
SPECIAL is a EU-funded ICT-18-2016 project addressing privacy-preserving Big Data technologies. We are focusing on the conflict between Big Data innovation and privacy-aware data protection by proposing a technical solution that makes both of these goals realistic. We develop technology that supports the acquisition of legally compliant user consent according to the requirements of the European data protection framework.
Moreover, (user-centric) control functionalities will be developed which allow for meaningful usage/access control and for the auditability of data handling policies to enhance transparency and compliance verification.
